Golf fans, eagerly awaiting the return of fifteen-time major champion, Tiger Woods, will have to exercise a bit more patience. His potential 2025 debut initially could have seen him at The Players Championship but has been postponed due to his recent surgery for a ruptured left Achilles tendon.

Woods, in a social media post, revealed that he was intensifying his training and practice at home when he felt a sharp pain in his ruptured Achilles. He underwent a minimally invasive surgery to repair the torn tendon, with his doctor expressing optimism about his full recovery post-procedure.

Woods’ last PGA Tour event was The Open at Royal Troon Golf Course in Scotland in July 2024, where he missed the cut. Woods has yet to participate in a PGA Tour event this season but has played in four TGL matches this season, a technology-infused golf league he formed with Rory McIlroy.

The absence of Woods will undoubtedly be felt at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The world’s best golfers will compete for the prestigious trophy and a $25 million purse, which includes $4.5 million for the ultimate winner.
