The Super Bowl is not happening this week, but the NFL is still making both the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots release game designations in their injury report before they even fly out to Northern California.

Seriously.

If we’re going to play along, then undrafted rookie tackle Amari Kight would be doubtful to play after not practicing the entire week. Fullbacks Robbie Ouzts and Brady Russell were both listed as questionable, likewise linebacker Chazz Surratt. It’s worth noting that Surratt needs to be activated by end of Tuesday, otherwise he reverts to injured reserve.

Generally speaking, this is a highly encouraging injury report, with only Ouzts as a significant question mark among the regular starters/contributors. Given the dangers of anything to do with a neck injury, next week’s practices will be worth monitoring closely.

A tip of the cap to the New England Patriots, who took this seriously and decided to list all nine players on their injury report as questionable. Who’s truly questionable? Who isn’t? Maybe this is a nice tribute to when Bill Belichick kept listing Tom Brady (shoulder) as probable to play before the NFL got rid of the “probable” designation.

Practice for the week of the Super Bowl will be at Stanford Stadium for the Patriots and San Jose State University for the Seahawks. Meaningful game designations will be next Friday.
