- Subaru will launch a new electric SUV at the New York Auto Show on April 1.
- It will have 420 horsepower and the automaker’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
- This will be Subaru’s fourth electric vehicle, joining the Solterra, Uncharted, and Trailseeker.
Subaru already offers three electric vehicles, and soon it will have a fourth. The automaker has announced it will unveil a new electric SUV at next week’s New York Auto Show.
All Subaru said about the new model is that it will have 420 horsepower and the brand’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. That would make it the automaker’s most powerful EV yet, surpassing the 375-hp Trailseeker, which can hit 0-60 in 4.4 seconds.
The lone teaser image Subaru shared captures the sunlit silhouette of the new EV and its front lighting elements, which are nearly identical to those of the Trailseeker and Uncharted EVs. The rest of the vehicle looks like a typical Subaru, but we will have to wait for the full reveal to know for sure.
The Rest Of Subaru’s EV Lineup
Subaru is quickly expanding its EV lineup, launching the Trailseeker and Uncharted for 2026. The Uncharted is the brand’s cheapest electric offering, slotting below the Solterra and starting at $36,445.
The new Trailseeker is the most expensive at $41,445, and we expect this new one might sit above that. The Solterra, which Subaru co-developed with Toyota and rides on the same platform, splits the difference at $39,945. The new EV could cost in the mid-$40,000 range to start.
Subaru will unveil the new EV at the New York Auto Show on April 1 at 10:25 am. You can watch the livestream here.
Motor1’s Take: Subaru is one automaker quickly expanding its lineup of electric vehicles as others rethink their plans. This will be the brand’s fourth EV and one that pushes the performance boundaries for the automaker. We are excited to see what Subaru has to offer next.
