It had been over a decade since Tiger Woods last won a major. Those roaring Sunday crowds had long ago been replaced by uncomfortable whispers, the product of doubt sewn by scandals and surgeries. Just eight months earlier, Woods teased the golf world with a runner-up finish to Brooks Koepka at the 2018 PGA Championship, perhaps rekindling the thought he might win one more time. It still seemed like a fantasy.

Down two strokes entering the final round, the 14-time major winner would have to do something he had never done before: come from behind on Sunday. Not only did he rally, Woods broke free from a logjammed leaderboard that at one point with four holes left featured a five-way tie for first.
Everything about this one felt different.
The emotional embrace with his kids. The cathartic euphoria and relief felt by sports fans everywhere. The awe-struck giddiness from his fellow competitors.
“Probably the greatest moment in our sport.” – Tony Finau
“It wasn’t just the golf world that was excited, it was the entire world.” – Brooks Koepka
