English football regularly offers us improbable scenes… and Sunday’s at Brentford was one of them.
While Nottingham Forest secured a convincing victory (3-1) thanks to a double from Chris Wood and the first goal by Dan Ndoye, one of the standout moments of the match happened… on the sidelines.
Rui Barbosa, Forest’s goalkeeping coach, completely lost it when the opening goal was scored in the 5th minute. Overjoyed, he ended up with his head against his team’s dugout protection.
The result: a nasty cut and six stitches to treat the injury.
“He was dizzy,” admitted his manager Nuno Espírito Santo after the match.
Barbosa had to recover as best as he could from this lost duel against the stadium furniture, while his players ensured victory on the field.
