The PGA Tour’s ShotLink technology offers a trove of data for fans, but it wasn’t always available at all the courses a particular tournament would use. For example, a tournament such as the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am uses two courses, but ShotLink data would normally only be available from the main course, Pebble Beach Golf Links.
That’s changing this week at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which runs Thursday through Sunday in California. The Tour announced that ShotLink will provide real-time data from every shot at both Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill on Tourcast on the PGA Tour app and website each day of the signature event. Each player will alternate between Pebble Beach and Spyglass the first two rounds, then the final two rounds will be played only on Pebble Beach.
The Tour says this is part of the “Fan Forward” initiative, in this case powered by CDW.
The initial Fan Forward survey in 2024 collected feedback from more than 50,000 respondents. According to the Tour, fans were asked which enhancements might increase fan engagement with golf broadcasts, and the answer “greater integration of stats and data” was one of the top responses.
ShotLink data will continue to power the live stats for the broadcasters at Pebble Beach, as Golf Channel, CBS and ESPN+ can bring real-time stats to viewers.
The first full year for ShotLink was 2003, and since then it has collected data on more than 25 million shots at 197 courses.
