World No. 1 and two-time defending Players champion Scottie Scheffler will make his 2025 PGA Tour debut next week at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, after missing the first four weeks of the season with a hand injury.

Scheffler’s commitment to the tournament was first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle. Scheffler was later on the commit list released by the PGA Tour after the 5 p.m. deadline.

Also playing for the first time this season in the PGA Tour Signature Event are Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy. Other players in the field are Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel, Hideki Matsuyama, Collin Morikawa, Adam Scott and Justin Thomas.

Scheffler, who became the first to win The Players back-to-back in 2024, cut his right hand while helping make Christmas dinner at his home near Dallas. He was to have played in The Sentry and The American Express.

Scheffler won seven times last year, capturing the Masters three weeks after The Players, and capping the Tour season with the FedEx Cup Championship. He set a record with more than $29 million in earnings and a 68.01 scoring average.

He was voted PGA Tour Player of the Year by his peers for the third season in a row, garnering 91 percent of the vote.

Scheffler also won Olympic Golf in Paris and won the Hero World Challenge in December, a tournament in the Bahamas hosted by Tiger Woods.

Scheffler shot 64 in the final round last year at the Stadium Course to hold off Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman and Xander Schauffele. It tied for the lowest final-round score by a winner in Players history.

Scheffler’s playing schedule, if he follows his usual routine, will be to play Pebble Beach, the WM Phoenix Open and the Genesis Invitational, then take a week off before defending his title in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in Orlando, followed by The Players.
