The moral of the story here is to not bet against Scottie Scheffler. Don’t think about it. Don’t even think about thinking about it. You say something silly about the World No. 1, and the next thing you know, he has six birdies over his first nine holes to start the year, and you’re being forced to consume only Wendy’s chili for the next month.
That sounds like a Mad Libs gone awry, but it’s the God’s honest truth for one unfortunate man: Larry Shea of Tom & Marty’s Town House in Binghamton, New York. The guy talked some sh*t and now … well, you can probably see where I was going with this sentence.

“Scheffler isn’t winning folks,” Larry (unfortunately) claimed heading into the AmEx. “He never does when he starts this hot. I guarantee it … If Scottie Scheffler wins this week I will only eat Wendy’s chili for a month. It’s not happening folks. ZERO chance.”
The commenters were more worried than boastful; even DudeWipes checked in with a more-than-appropriate “you’re gonna need us.” It’s not often you see someone come up with a “Super Size Me”-esque challenge for literally no reason other than a few social media likes. But this is the world we live in now. ABC: Always Be (making) Content.
So far the Scheffler doubter has lived up to his word with the following post, which reads like a cross between a hostage video and a Gamblers Anonymous tell-all.

“I am a man of my word,” Larry Shea admitted. “No excuses, I was wrong. Congratulations, Scottie Scheffler, which means until February 25, 7 p.m., the only thing I’m going to be eating for breakfast, lunch and dinner is Wendy’s chili. No cheese, no crackers, just chili.
“I’ve been abusing my digestive tract for 50 years now. I got this.”
We’re not totally sure why he’s forgoing cheese and crackers. Even Scheffler would probably let that one slide, but you can’t say that Mr. Shea isn’t an honest (probably too honest) man.
Scottie Scheffler has now won 20 times on the PGA Tour, featuring four major championships and even an Olympic gold medal, but his No. 1 accomplishment now is being such a force in golf that he changed a man’s diet (and life) for at least the next month. There are a lot of losses when you go up against Scheffler, but we may have found the biggest loser.
