Scottie Scheffler Claims 3rd Victory in 4 Starts at Memorial Tournament originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Scottie Scheffler has done it again, cementing his dominance on the PGA Tour by capturing the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
In a relatively stress-free final round, Scheffler held off a fiercely competitive, star-studded field that consisted of Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas.
Scheffler, who entered the final round with a three-shot lead, faced little pressure throughout the round, with Ben Griffin slightly chipping away at the deficit.
Scheffler’s composure and patience were put on full display as he proceeded to par his first nine holes, hitting greens routinely and playing the required shot every time.
The world No. 1 picked up his third victory in the span of the month and is oozing right ahead of the US Open, which will be played at Oakmont Country Club.
With two major championships to go, Scheffler can certainly build off the momentum he’s established after winning the PGA Championship, CJ Cup Byron Nelson, and now the Memorial.
It has simply been a remarkable last three and a half years for Scheffler, who has racked up wins to his resume dating back to the 2022 Super Bowl.
Scheffler, who has been scrutinized for his ability to finish golf tournaments after holding the 54-hole lead, avoided the final-round struggles by carding a 2-under 70.
He finished the tournament at -10, four strokes clear of Ben Griffin at -6, who posted a solo second finish.
The former Longhorn is on top of the golf world and in complete control of his game, showing that the sky is the limit for him as he approaches his prime years.
