The Buffalo Sabres faced off against EHC Red Bull Munchen in Munich, Germany on Friday (Sept. 27). This was an exhibition game for the Sabres before they officially begin their regular season in Czechia for the 2024 NHL Global Series.

This game was particularly special for Sabres forward JJ Peterka, as he is not only from Germany but also played for Red Bull in the DEL before beginning his North American career. In 72 games with the German club, the 2020 second-round pick had 16 goals and 31 points.

Besides getting the amazing opportunity to play against the club that helped develop his game, he also put together a strong performance. He notably scored a goal in the game, showing off his great wrist shot.

With Peterka being back in Germany, he was also given the rockstar treatment. Before the matchup, the Sabres let him take a solo lap. He also later engaged with the fans by leading them in a chant.

Nevertheless, getting the chance to play back home must have been such an amazing experience for Peterka.
