Inter Milan are reportedly open to letting second-string goalkeeper Josep Martinez stay at the club as a backup option.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri will sign a new shot-stopper in the summer.

Yann Sommer has been Inter’s first-choice keeper over the past three years.

However, the 37-year-old is in the autumn of his career, and his deal at San Siro expires at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the Serie A pacesetters have already decided not to offer him a contract renewal.

Despite shelling out nearly €15 million to sign Martinez from Genoa in 2024, the Spaniard has largely played second fiddle at San Siro.

Therefore, Inter could part ways with the 27-year-old in the summer.

Yet, it’s worth noting that the Nerazzurri are willing to keep him as long as he doesn’t ask for a sale.

Nevertheless, it doesn’t change the fact that Cristian Chivu’s side will sign a new goalkeeper.
