Nottingham Forest Set Sights on Dan Ndoye as Elanga Replacement
Forest Planning for Life After Elanga
Nottingham Forest may be preparing for a significant attacking reshuffle, as Sky Sports reports the club is eyeing a move for Bologna winger Dan Ndoye, following Anthony Elanga’s £55m switch to Newcastle United.
The Swiss international is said to be open to the move, although Forest are yet to engage in direct talks with Bologna. The Serie A side are reportedly willing to entertain offers in the region of £28.5m (€33m).
It’s a figure that reflects the growing profile of Ndoye, who impressed last season in Serie A and caught wider attention with his performances at Euro 2024 for Switzerland. With his direct running, energy down the flanks, and ability to stretch defences, the 24-year-old appears to fit the mould of a Premier League winger.
Napoli Also in the Picture
Sky Sports also notes that Napoli have expressed interest in Ndoye, potentially complicating Forest’s pursuit. The Serie A giants offer both European competition and a strong domestic pedigree, though Forest’s Premier League platform may yet prove appealing to the player.
Still, the fact that Ndoye is open to the move suggests Forest could hold a genuine advantage if they act swiftly.
Replacing Elanga Won’t Be Easy
Elanga’s departure is a big blow for Forest, given his 10 assists and 5 goals in the Premier League last season. The Swedish winger had become a central figure under Nuno Espírito Santo, often offering a direct counter-attacking threat.
Ndoye, while stylistically similar, may take time to adapt to the Premier League’s physicality and tempo. However, his versatility – capable of playing on either flank – would certainly appeal to Forest’s coaching staff, who are looking for dynamic width in attack.
Our View – EPL Index Analysis
From a Forest fan’s perspective, the potential signing of Dan Ndoye brings cautious optimism.
On the one hand, replacing a player like Elanga — who quickly became a fan favourite and offered pace, assists and goals — is no easy task. But on the other, Ndoye ticks several boxes. He’s young, hungry, and experienced in a top-five European league. Forest fans will remember how Elanga himself was a risk that paid off, and perhaps Ndoye could follow that same trajectory.
