Veteran NFL official Ron Torbert has been named as the referee for Super Bowl LIX, which will take place Feb. 9 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

This will be Torbert’s second time refereeing a Super Bowl after he was in charge of Super Bowl LVI between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals. He was also the alternate referee for Super Bowl LIII between the Rams and New England Patriots.

Torbert is in his 15th season as an NFL official and 11th as a referee. Super Bowl LIX will be his 14th career postseason assignment.

Torbert most recently worked Saturday’s Washington Commanders’ win over the Detroit Lions in the NFC divisional round. He will not work this coming weekend’s conference championship games. Shawn Hochuli will ref the Commanders-Eagles game, while Clete Blakeman has been assigned to Bills-Chiefs.

Filling out Torbert’s crew will be umpire Mike Morton, down judge Max Causey, line judge Mark Stewart, field judge Mearl Robinson, side judge Boris Cheek, back judge Jonah Monroe and replay official Kevin Brown.

Earlier this season Cheek moved past referee Walt Coleman for most games officiated in NFL history, according to Football Zebras.

Morton is a former NFL linebacker who played for six teams over seven seasons. He was a member of the Super Bowl-winning St. Louis Rams team in Super Bowl XXXVI. Morton will be the second person to have played in and officiate a Super Bowl after umpire Terry Killens was part of the Super Bowl LVIII crew in Las Vegas last year.
