Before the September 18 episode of SmackDown, the Canadian star appeared on Busted Open Radio and revealed that WWE had asked him if he wanted Punk’s side plates removed.
The Canadian star said he asked for them to remain on the championship for at least another week. Zayn defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens on the September 18 episode of SmackDown. During the match, Punk appeared and struck Owens with the championship.
The Last Real Good Guy then hit Owens with another Helluva Kick to retain the title. Punk attacked both Zayn and Owens with GTSs after the match.
