Earlier this week, Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe missed team training on two consecutive days, casting doubts over his availability for tonight’s game against Real Sociedad.
It was claimed that the 27-year-old goalscorer was dealing with pain and discomfort from the knee injury he had sustained back in December.

The French superstar, though, returned to training on Friday and has been included in the squad list to face Real Sociedad, with his absence from training termed as mere workload management.
Mbappe still dealing with pain
However, according to a new report from L’Equipe, Mbappe is still suffering from the after-effects of his knee injury, with the forward understood to be dealing with pain in the region.
Despite the situation being as it is, Real Madrid intend to keep playing the France captain, given that they have been going through a turbulent period and cannot afford to lose their ace goalscorer.

Mbappe missed Real Madrid’s first two games of 2026 due to knee injury, before returning for the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona as a late substitute. He then sat out of the Copa del Rey disaster against Albacete.
But since then, the 27-year-old superstar has featured in each of Real Madrid’s six games in all competitions as a starter. If he starts tonight, as expected, it will make it a run of seven matches without rest.
However, Mbappe happens to be Real Madrid’s top scorer this season, registering 38 goals in 31 matches, and his importance to the team cannot be understated.
As such, the French superstar is expected to continue playing for the club even though he continues to suffer from pain in his knee.
