Real Madrid were sweating over the fitness of Kylian Mbappe last week, coming into Saturday’s game against Real Sociedad.
In the end, the French superstar, who has 38 goals this season for Los Blancos, was deemed fit to play and included in the squad list.

However, when the game came around, he was left out of the starting XI by manager Alvaro Arbeloa, and did not even come off the bench, with the team emerging winners with a 4-1 scoreline.
Mbappe still dealing with knee discomfort
Providing an update on Mbappe’s situation, Mario Cortegana of The Athletic reports that Mbappe continues to suffer from discomfort in his knee following an injury he sustained back in December.
But, there are no major concerns at Real Madrid, with the 27-year-old set to continue with the conservative treatment plan that he is currently following.

Speaking to the media after the win against Sociedad, Arbeloa, who had previously claimed that Mbappe was fully fit to play the league game, said:
“Mbappe has been dealing with this discomfort for quite some time. He’s putting in a huge effort every time he goes out on the pitch, and today we decided not to take any risks ahead of Tuesday. I think he’ll be available.”
Those at the club expect Mbappe’s condition to improve in the coming days without any need to change the plans currently in place for his recovery, even though he continues to experience some pain in the area.
With Real Madrid set to face Benfica in the UEFA Champions League knockouts playoff tomorrow in Lisbon, the Frenchman could very well return to the starting lineup after being well-rested for over a week.
