It hasn’t been the best of seasons for Antonio Rudiger, whose progress has been marred by countless injury woes.
This has also put question marks on his long-term future at Santiago Bernabeu, with his contract at the club expiring at the end of the season.

Rudiger has been recently struggling with injury problems, especially after the Super League semifinals. However, he returned to the squad last week and is now in contention to play against Real Sociedad tonight.
Real Madrid’s big hopes for Rudiger
According to MARCA (h/t Madrid Xtra), Real Madrid have pinned their hopes on Rudiger, especially after his return from injury.
The club are hoping that the German’s recovery has been to the maximum, meaning that the team is hopeful he won’t run into a fresh fitness issue.

Rudiger, after all, is highly favoured within the Real Madrid camp as the club believe he is the ideal defender, especially on Champions League nights.
One can hardly argue either, as the German international brings with him a wealth of experience, having featured in 70 Champions League matches and even winning the competition twice.
Rudiger was one of the club’s protagonists when they won the Champions League title in 2024, beating Borussia Dortmund in the final.
With Real Madrid slated to face SL Benfica in the knockout playoff next midweek, the club are aiming to have Rudiger back to full fitness.
