Baltimore Ravens great C.J. Mosley is calling it a career. The five-time Pro Bowler announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday in an Instagram post.
Mosley, 33, put up some excellent numbers in 10 seasons in the league. After Baltimore selected him in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Mosley immediately performed like a star, making the Pro Bowl in his rookie season. He finished second in Rookie of the Year voting.

In his five seasons with the Ravens, Mosley reached the Pro Bowl four times. He also was named to the All-Pro second team four times over that period.
Mosley hit free agency following the 2018 season and signed a five-year, $85 million deal with the New York Jets. At the time, it was the richest deal ever for an inside linebacker.
His time with the Jets got off to a rough start, as he played in just two games in 2019 due to injuries. He then sat out the entire 2020 NFL season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mosley returned to the team in 2021 and racked up massive tackle numbers over the next three seasons. From 2021 through 2023, Mosley averaged 159 combined tackles per season. He made his fifth and final Pro Bowl in 2022.

Injuries struck again in 2024. Mosley was limited to just four games due to toe and neck injuries. The Jets released the veteran in March, though he’s still mentoring some Jets players.
Prior to his NFL success, Mosley excelled at Alabama. He was the team MVP in 2012 and finished tied with Michael Sam as the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. He won the Butkus Award that season — which is given to the best linebacker in college football — ahead of being selected by the Ravens with the No. 17 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
