Niccolò Pisilli has demonstrated with the U21 national team that he possesses the skills of a world-class player.

So far, however, the young midfielder hasn’t managed to establish himself with Roma, but with El Aynaoui’s departure for the Africa Cup of Nations, the 2004-born midfielder’s chances could improve.

Speaking to VivoazzurroTV, Pisilli recounted his rise from Casal Palocco to the Olimpico. He began by describing how he got started: “I started with tennis, but watching my brother play made me fall in love with football. I started at La Madonnetta.”

After revealing how he learned Roma had signed him, the 2004-born player recounted the emotions he experienced with the national team. “The European Championship with Bollini will remain forever. My debut with the seniors was the best moment I’ve ever experienced, and it was also at my home in Rome.”

Perhaps more than anyone, Pisilli has benefited from the arrival of Silvio Baldini as the U21 coach. Here’s what’s changed: “Baldini brought enthusiasm and instilled in us human and tactical values… He tells us to always train at full speed, and it shows on the pitch. If we’re so united, it’s entirely thanks to him.”

He concluded with his dream: “Obviously, the Scudetto with Roma,” then added: “Maybe even a World Cup with Italy.”
