Phil Mickelson will be back in action this week in South Africa for LIV Golf’s fifth event of the season.
Mickelson has missed the first four LIV events of 2026 due to a ‘family health matter’.
Despite the fact that the six-time major winner will be 56 in June, he is still one of the biggest draws that LIV have to offer, so he has been greatly missed so far in 2026.

Mickelson was one of the biggest stars who left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf back in June 2022.
That came the year after he became the oldest player to ever win a major championship, following his dramatic triumph in the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island in 2021.
However, since his move to LIV, he has struggled to contend for victories consistently.

It’s a new season now, though, and he will still be hopeful of challenging for titles on LIV and, indeed, in the majors.

LIV Golf fans will be desperate to see the six-time major winner back in action this week.
He may not be the golfer he once was, but he always guarantees excitement for those who watch him play.
“I’ve really missed seeing everyone and competing,“ Mickelson said.
“I’m so excited to be back with the guys this week.“
Mickelson may well be rusty in South Africa this week.
However, with The Masters now just three weeks away, it will be vital for the 55-year-old to get some competitive reps in before he heads to Augusta National.
Phil Mickelson will want to be Masters ready
This week in South Africa is the last LIV event before The Masters, so Mickelson will be desperate for a positive result at The Club at Steyn City.

Mickelson has proved in the past that he is more than capable of competing at Augusta National, despite the fact that he is on the wrong side of 50.
It was only in 2023 when he finished second at The Masters after shooting a scintillating final round 65 at Augusta.
He knows the golf course like the back of his hand and experience counts for so much at Augusta National.
However, shaking off the rust before he tees it up at The Masters will be the most important thing for Mickelson right now.
And he will get the chance to do exactly that in South Africa this week.
