No. 18 UCLA and North Carolina will kick off this year’s CBS Sports Classic doubleheader Saturday as the series returns to Madison Square Garden for the second time. The two teams squared off in the series five years ago to the day in a game won by UNC 74-64, extending its lead over the Bruins in the CBS Sports Classic to 2-0.
UCLA will enter Saturday’s game with wind at its sails to get on the board in the Classic after winning its last nine games entering the weekend. Meanwhile, UNC — losers of four of its last six games — hobbles into the matchup with a leaky defense that has surrendered at least 85 points in each of its five losses this season.
