Mercedes-AMG has finally revealed the identity of its Track Sport prototype, which it has been teasing for a few months. As we suspected when the first photos surfaced, it’s effectively a two-in-one supercar. It previews not only a new GT3 racing machine but also a street-legal Black Series model developed as a homologation special.
It’s obvious the two cars are closely related, as it honestly took a while to tell them apart. The version with yellow and green accents rides on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and will carry a license plate. The red one, equipped with racing slicks and a full roll cage, is strictly for the circuit.
The road-legal model makes it clear Mercedes-AMG means business, with center-lock wheels, front canards, a side-exit exhaust, and a massive swan-neck rear wing. It’s touted as the “most radical Black Series ever,” and it’s safe to assume it will be strictly a two-seater.

Will It Have A V8 Engine?
We expect a V8-only setup without any electrification, avoiding the extra weight such systems bring. Mercedes-AMG remains tight-lipped about technical specifications, but the upcoming model has big shoes to fill. Its predecessor delivered 720 horsepower, and deep-pocketed enthusiasts will expect at least as much.
At its core, the new model could feature a flat-plane crank V8, an engine AMG might also use in its next model from the Mythos series. That project has previously been linked to a CLE 63 with an unconfirmed 646 hp from a twin-turbo 4.0-liter engine, but a GT Black Series would need to surpass that.
The upcoming Black Series will sit well above the GT 63 Pro, so expect a price significantly higher than the current flagship’s $203,550 sticker. More details will be revealed in due course.

Motor1’s Take: It’s encouraging to see Mercedes-AMG continuing to embrace large-displacement engines rather than going all-in on electrification. Even if the Black Series will cater to one-percenters, it’s refreshing that engineers have found a way to keep a V8 supercar compliant with emissions regulations.
With the AMG One hypercar no longer in production, the next Black Series will become the most expensive Mercedes model in the lineup. Its predecessor started at $326,050 in the United States, and the new one will likely cost even more.
