Cleetus McFarland isn’t eligible to race in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series event at Talladega Superspeedway in a few weeks. NASCAR has not approved McFarland to run Talladega after his start in the O’Reilly Series race at Rockingham Speedway, as reported by NASCAR’s John Probst on the Hauler Talk podcast.

The YouTube personality is still approved for short track races in the O’Reilly Series, but NASCAR wants to see him run more before going to bigger race tracks. It is unclear when Richard Childress Racing will enter McFarland into another O’Reilly Series event, but it won’t be Talladega right now.

McFarland finished six laps down in 32nd place at Rockingham on Saturday, causing one caution by spinning on his own. For a new NASCAR driver, Rockingham is a tough track, but the sport wants to see more from him. Hopefully, McFarland can race again soon. If so, NASCAR could approve McFarland for superspeedway tracks if their needs are met.
