Guess who! Nope, not Shane van Gisbergen.

Tyler Reddick, fresh off back-to-back wins to start the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, won the pole Saturday for Sunday’s DureMAX Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

Even after two wins and a pole, van Gisbergen is heavily favored on all of the odds boards, though COTA was the one road course where he didn’t win last year. Christopher Bell made COTA the second of his three straight victories early in 2025.

Tyler Reddick started the year by winning the Daytona 500 and, through Saturday, hasn’t slowed down since.

But beginning three months later at Mexico City, van Gisbergen took the first of what would be five straight road wins over the balance of the season.

COTA first appeared on the Cup Series schedule in 2021. Five different racers have won the five races there: Chase Elliott, Ross Chastain, Tyler Reddick, William Byron and Christopher Bell.

It’s a unique weekend of road-course racing for NASCAR, since all three of its major national series are racing on two different circuits. While the Cup and O’Reilly Series are in Austin, the Truck Series is joining IndyCar’s opening weekend on the streets of St. Petersburg.
