NASCAR Fans Slam Veteran Announcer for Explosive Airport Post originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Since NASCAR announced the 2025 schedule last year, this weekend has been the most anticipated as the sport goes international with both the Xfinity and Cup Series racing in Mexico City. With the races scheduled on the traditional Saturday and Sunday, teams and crews flew out of Charlotte on Thursday headed for Mexico.
Unlike other weekends where many personnel fly on their own team planes, they are flying in bigger groups on larger planes south of the border. Joey Logano described the difference earlier this week during an appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
“It’s so different than what we typically do, right?” Logano said. “Typically we just go to the airport, we jump on the plane, we land, our rental cars are there, you drive to the race track. Boom. Like it happens every single week the same way. It’s very, very simple.
“Now it’s like, OK, we’re gonna meet at the shop, we’re gonna ride a bus down to the airport. We’re all getting in the big airplane all together and we’re gonna land and there’s different buses. Make sure you get on the bus, make sure your bag gets on the bus. Make sure you go to right hotel.”
On Thursday while the teams and personnel were gathered at the Charlotte airport, veteran NASCAR announcer Dave Moody took to X and shared a bizarre post about the situation.
If Charlotte Douglas Airport Terminal D exploded right now, NASCAR would be out of business. #MexicoBound.

“If Charlotte Douglas Airport Terminal D exploded right now, NASCAR would be out of business. #MexicoBound,” he joked.
Unsurprisingly, many fans didn’t like the joke.
“What a terrible thing to say~especially with the India crash today where over 200 ppl lost their lives,” one person wrote.
“Are you an idiot?” said another.
“TSA might wanna check this guy twice…” wrote another.
“Dude, what the hell,” another person said.
“I’d delete this,” suggested another.
Moody didn’t delete it.
