Baseball’s best and brightest will bask in the glow of the spotlight during the 2024 All-Star Game at Globe Life Field, the home of the Texas Rangers.

The sport’s best sluggers in particular have put on a show so far this season.

Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge has launched firework after firework at Yankee Stadium to claim the first starting spot in the American League. His National League counterpart, Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper, has led his team to the best record in baseball heading into the Fourth of July holiday.

Meanwhile, Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani could very well become the first designated hitter to take home MVP honors. And Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson has thrust his way into superstardom, leaving a trail of lengthy home runs and eye-catching grabs in his wake.

A memorable first half to the 2024 season will be crystallized in the All-Star rosters for the American League and National League, with the remainder of the starters for each league set to be announced at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 3, on ESPN.

The Sporting News is following the announcement of the MLB All-Star Game starters and providing live updates.

Who were the All-Star Game starter finalists?

Fan voting for this year’s All-Star Game was conducted in two phases. The player who garnered the most votes in each league during Phase 1 — Judge and Harper — automatically earned enshrinement into their respective league’s starting lineup.

For all other positions, the top vote-getters in Phase 1 advanced to a final round of voting in Phase 2. In the infield, there were two finalists for each position. In the outfield, there were six total (four in the American League, as Judge claimed an outfield spot).

The top vote-getters were pitted against each other in a run-off. Whichever player garnered the most votes will be declared the winner and an All-Star Game starter at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 3, on ESPN.

The pitchers and reserves will be announced at 5:30 p.m. ET Sunday, July 7, also on ESPN.

Here are the finalists at each position as voted by the fans. Players are listed by vote share as of the last poll update, per MLB. The top vote-getters in each league in Phase 1 are in bold.
