Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys vowed to be aggressive in upgrading their defense during the 2026 NFL offseason.

That evidently included a strong pursuit of star Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby ahead of free agency.

The Cowboys made three separate offers to the Raiders in an effort to acquire Crosby’s services, according to ESPN’s Ryan McFadden.

“Initial offers centered on Dallas’ second first-round pick at No. 20, and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa,” McFadden detailed of Dallas’ pursuit of Crosby. “The Cowboys then offered their top first-rounder at No. 12 and a third-round pick. Ultimately, the Cowboys moved to No. 12 and their second-round pick, but the last two offers, sources said, did not include Odighizuwa, who was traded to the San Francisco 49ers for a third-round selection.”

The Cowboys’ offers weren’t enough to beat out the Baltimore Ravens, who offered the Raiders two first-round selections – the No. 14 overall pick in 2026 and an additional selection in 2027 – to acquire Crosby.

However, the trade between Baltimore and Las Vegas was nixed after Crosby failed a physical with the Ravens because of a lingering knee issue. As a result, the 28-year-old remains with the Raiders.

Will the Cowboys consider making another offer for Crosby at any point? Jones left the door open when asked about the possibility during a March 12 event promoting an IndyCar series street race.

“We’re pretty far down the road relative to what our plans are,” Jones said when asked about pursuing Crosby, per the Associated Press. “So while I don’t anticipate it, I don’t want to rule anything out.”

Presently, McFadden reports the Raiders’ asking price for Crosby “remains high” and “teams are hesitant to meet it” after the five-time Pro Bowler’s brief ordeal in Baltimore.

Barring a change of heart from either party, it looks like Crosby will remain with the Raiders – at least in the short term.
