Max Homa’s Behavior Toward Fans After PGA Tour Loss Catches Attention originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
It was a long day in Columbus as players battled through exhausting conditions to claim the final entries into the 2025 U.S. Open.
Max Homa, one of the top contenders on the course, found himself in a five-man playoff for the last spot. He had a chance to clinch it outright but narrowly missed a birdie putt on the 9th hole. That miss ultimately landed him in the playoffs, where he eventually lost out to Cameron Young and failed to qualify for the tournament.
Despite the disappointment, Homa’s actions after the round spoke volumes.
The PGA Tour shared a heartwarming story, captioned:
“All class. Despite a heartbreaking finish to his round, @MaxHoma signed autographs for fans who followed along during Golf’s Longest Day.”

His sportsmanship didn’t go unnoticed. Fans flooded social media with praise:

“Hard not to like guys like this,” added another.
Someone else wrote, “He is such a class act.”
“What a class act! Max Homa truly shows what sportsmanship is all about, even on Golf’s Longest Day!” said this fan.
More praise here: “That’s dope of him!”
Another one mentions his class: “All class. Thats why I love that guy. Hang in there Max – lots of fans out here rooting for you every week.”
Homa, a former Pac-12 Golf Champion at the University of California-Berkeley, turned pro in 2013. He has racked up nine professional wins, six of which have come on the PGA Tour. While he has yet to secure a major championship, Homa finished third at the 2024 Masters and tied for 12th at Augusta this season. He also tied for 60th at the PGA Championship.
In majors, Homa has made the cut in six of his last seven appearances, with his lone miss coming at the 2023 U.S. Open.
While this year’s U.S. Open won’t feature Max Homa, his grace under pressure and continued support from fans show why he remains one of the most respected figures on tour.
