Matt Every hasn’t played a competitive round on the PGA Tour since the 2023 Barbasol Championship, where he missed the cut with rounds of 77-76, but the 42-year-old two-time winner is still a pro-golf fixture – albeit in a different way.
On Monday nights, Every hosts “The Drop” on Golf Channel in addition to working as an analyst on PGA Tour Live. Every has a long-held reputation as a fiery player, and even revealed that he was frequently fined by the Tour for his on-course outbursts over the course of his career, so the irony of now working for the organization isn’t lost on him.

“It’s bizarre, isn’t it?” Every said to hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz on this week’s episode of Subpar. “I know, it’s so funny. I see some of the guys that, you know, used to discipline me in there, like [PGA Tour Tournament Administration SVP] Andy Levinson and stuff, and we just grin at each other.
“But you know what, I’m totally fine with how everything shook out. I really, really like being there, and I’m also pumped for the future.”
“What’s the goal?” Knost asked.
“Yeah, just kind of turn it into a second career,” Every replied. “I mean, the goal’s probably to be out there with you one day, but just turn it into a second career. I like what I’m doing and I’m happy.”

Every also has two grade-school kids and says he’s enjoying being deeply involved in their lives.

“The career stuff matters, but right now, a lot of my time is [spent as] a dad too,” Every said. “Whether it’s picking one of the kids up from school, taking them to practice, you know, you name it, I don’t know. I feel pretty good about where I’m at.”
