Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Manchester City are showing interest in Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. O’Rourke said, “There’ll be lots more speculation in regards to Sandro Tonali. That news on Deadline Day was probably just the start of it.
“There has been constant rumours of a possible move away for Tonali, talk of going back to Italy with AC Milan, Juventus, talk of homesickness and all sorts as well.

“He had a great start to the season, maybe came off the boil a little bit in recent weeks, but he is still a key player for Eddie Howe’s side.
“Howe won’t want to lose Tonali, he’ll want to keep hold of him and build a side around him. He would be a huge loss to Newcastle if they were to lose him.
“I’m sure there are Premier League clubs who are monitoring his situation, Arsenal obviously were linked on deadline day.
“Manchester City are interested in Tonali as well, if there’s any indication he could be lured away from St James’ Park.”
Tonali’s Decent Form In The Premier League
Tonali is having a solid campaign at the Tyneside club as he has been responsible for putting in a handful of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The Italy international has picked up five assists in 36 appearances for Newcastle this season across multiple competitions.

The 25-year-old is currently among the best central midfielders in the Premier League. Thus, it is no wonder that Man City want to recruit him this summer.

Will Tonali Be A Decent Choice For Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola?
Tonali is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The Italian talent can chip in by picking up his fair share of assists from midfield. Tonali is primarily a holding midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so. He has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Man City.
Tonali would enhance the quality of Pep Guardiola’s midfield. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at the Etihad Stadium.
At 25, Tonali’s best years are ahead of him, which makes him a good choice for the Mancunian outfit to consider at the end of this campaign.
