The latest golf news just revealed some exciting roster updates ahead of the 2026 Presidents Cup. While the event does not get started until Sept. 24, the United States as well as the International Team have announced their captains for the upcoming tournament that will take place at Medinah Country Club in Chicago, Ill.

The United States will have a new captain replacing Jim Furyk. Meanwhile, the International Team will move on from Trevor Immelman.

Instead, Geoff Ogilvy will be the International Team’s new captain for 2026. For the Americans, Brandt Snedeker replaces Furyk as the United States captain in hopes of keeping the country’s hot streak going in the tournament.

“Representing my country in team competition has been a highlight of my PGA Tour career, and I will lean on those experiences to ensure we are prepared and ready to compete against what I know will be a unified and determined International Team,” Snedeker said in a statement, per Sky Sports.

Those rooting for the States appear pleased with Snedeker’s appointment.

“Brandt’s gonna be handing out smiles and birdies like it’s candy. Let’s go, Captain Sneds!” one fan reacted.

“Congrats Brandt make us proud,” said another.

“Great choice !! Go Capt. Sneds!!” one person added.

“Outstanding selection,” a fan remarked.

The International Team will look to end the United States’ winning streak. America was victorious in 2024 at Royal Montreal Club in Canada. While the two squads tied in 2003, the International Team has not won the trophy since 1998.

All this to say, Ogilvy has some work to do in assembling a roster that can end the United States’ hot streak. Although a different tournament, the United States did lose to Europe in the 2023 Ryder Cup.
