Ludvig Aberg heads into the final round of The Players Championship with a three shot lead.

Aberg played sensationally well on Friday at The Players Championship, when he posted a superb round of nine-under-par 63.

Things didn’t come as easy for him on day three at TPC Sawgrass, though.

Aberg made a really slow start to this third round at The Players Championship, but he managed to shoot a solid round of 71, in spite of a three-putt bogey on the final green.

It was a challenging third round for the 26-year-old. Aberg and Xander Schauffele were warned about slow play on the fifth hole on Saturday.

And everything just seemed like a struggle for the final group. However, Aberg finished his round under par for the day and now he holds a three-shot advantage over Michael Thorbjornsen heading into the final round.

Ludvig Aberg annoyed by one shot he hit on day three of The Players

The two-time PGA Tour winner would have been bitterly disappointed to bogey his final hole of the day at TPC Sawgrass.

However, there was another shot he hit on Saturday that he wasn’t best pleased with.

Aberg was asked if he hesitates over certain shots when he’s under pressure.

Yeah, I mean at times, for sure, the Swede admitted.

I definitely have on my second shot on 16 today, where I kind of felt like I had to get a lot out of it. Those are the ones that really annoyed me.

I would love to have those back. But overall my philosophy is once you’re over the ball it’s just about hitting it, and that’s what I try to do.

Aberg handles poor shots better than most due to his unflappable nature.

He will need to lean on his cool and composed nature down the stretch at TPC Sawgrass on Sunday, with some truly treacherous holes lying in wait.

Ludvig Aberg comments on nerves at The Players

After his round, he was asked whether he gets nervous when playing competitive golf.

Yeah, I’ll definitely be nervous, Aberg admitted.

I’ve been nervous the last three days. I’ve been nervous every time I step on 17 tee box as well. So I think it’s a part of it. I think whoever says they don’t get nervous is not really true to themselves.

But yeah, it will be a challenge for sure, sleeping on a lead at a place that I really like, with a lot of friends, a lot of family, a lot of people that I know in the crowd.

So there’s all those things to it, but that’s also what’s so fun about this place and about these tournaments is to have these opportunities and is why we play golf.

Whenever I get in a stressful situation I have to slow myself down because I get really fast. I start talking fast, I start breathing fast, and I kind of get, like, a little worked up like that.

So I just have to really calm myself down, try to walk slow, talk slow, make everything just a little bit slower, which is a challenge.

I feel like I’ve had enough experiences where I’ve seen it work, where I’ve seen sort of Ryder Cups, I’ve seen big events where it’s happened and can I kind of calm myself down a little bit. But yeah, for me it’s just the pace of everything just goes up.
