In a recent report, The Sun mentioned that Liverpool have set their sights on Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon. It has been claimed that the Reds are eager to get a deal done for the English wide player this summer.

Gordon’s Decent Run Of Form In The Premier League

Gordon enjoyed an impressive season at Newcastle recently as he put in a handful of productive displays on the left side of their attack. The 24-year-old registered nine goals and secured seven assists in 42 matches for the Magpies in the previous campaign in multiple competitions.

The English sensation deserves some credit for averaging 2.11 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League but kept only 28.1% of his attempts on target. He also needs to improve his ball distribution after making 73.3% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).

Gordon is only getting better with each season, so it is no surprise that the Reds are showing interest in bringing him to Anfield in this summer transfer window.

What Will Gordon Add To Liverpool Boss Arne Slot’s Team?

Gordon has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker and can make a few driving runs out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.

The English talent can strike the ball with venom from long range. He is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also function as a right-winger or as a centre-forward if asked to do so.

Gordon knows the Premier League well and would be a good fit for Liverpool‘s needs in the long run. He would add more firepower to Arne Slot’s frontline. The English wing wizard is good enough to compete for regular first-team football at Anfield and could even help the Merseyside club compete for some major honours over the next few years.

At 24, Gordon has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for the Reds to consider this summer. Therefore, Slot should focus on going all out to bring him on board ahead of the new campaign.
