As the NFL settles into the second week of free agency, two high-profile free agents still available after the flurry of moves the past seven days may fit best with the Detroit Lions, according to one NFL analyst.
NFL.com’s Nick Shook selected who he thinks the best teams would be for several well-known players still on the market. It’s no secret the Lions are looking for a strong force at edge opposite Aidan Hutchinson, and Shook thinks 31-year-old Joey Bosa may do the role justice.

“Despite proving his injury history wasn’t a defining trait in the last two seasons, it’s a concern that will probably always follow him, but if he’s willing to take slightly less than what his representation believes he’s worth, he could find an excellent opportunity with the Lions. Bosa wouldn’t see much extra attention because of Hutchinson’s presence on the other side of the defensive front, and with Detroit adding productive veteran D.J. Wonnum on Tuesday, it might not be too taxing on the former No. 3 overall pick, either,” he writes.
And on the other side of the ball—a familiar face could be the answer. Shook writes a return to Detroit may be the best fit for offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler. Starting at right guard, the 36-year-old was a member of the Lions’ top-rated O-line in 2024. As the Lions retool this key unit, Shook doesn’t believe money will be much of an issue.
“Zeitler can return to Detroit and battle for one of the two starting guard spots (watch out, Christian Mahogany). If Zeitler loses the camp battle, he can hang around as a reliable veteran option in the event injury strikes. At 36 years old, he should fit nicely with the Lions’ remaining cap space, too,” he wrote.
And onto the rest of your notes.
