Welsh boxer Liam Williams says he is ready to get back into the ring and fight again – 12 months after retiring due to receiving “several concussions”.
The 33-year-old, who won British, European and Commonwealth titles, said in October last year he was hanging up his gloves because he was worried about taking further blows to the head and suffering more brain damage.
However, in a post on his Instagram channel, Williams says he wants to reverse the decision to quit, saying “the time has come and I’m ready to rumble again”.
The former world title challenger went on: “Any middleweight or super middleweights looking for some smoke, then here’s where you can get it. You know what to do.”
Last year Williams said he fought Chris Eubank Jr in 2022 despite knowing he was suffering the effects of a concussion and against medical advice as he “didn’t want to let down his fans”.
