Las Vegas Raiders fans remember their favorite Super Bowl teams

Well, as we get ready for another Super Bowl that isn’t featuring the Las Vegas Raiders, let’s do the next best thing and think about the team’s rich Super Bowl history.

That was the topic of our Tuesday Community Question this week. We asked our community members to name their favorite Raiders’ Super Bowl squad.

There were some really great answers. By the way, mine is the Super Bowl XI team. I love the photo of John Madden being carried off the field after winning the franchise’s first Lombardi Trophy.

the best Raider team ever was the 72 Raiders that got hosed by the Immaculate Deception play. That play should have started the Raiders dynasty rather then the Steelers. 76 Raiders was solid as well

I loved them all, but the 1983 team was my favorite. It was an almost perfect team after Mike Haynes came over at the trade deadline. With Marcus Allen they had a genuine running threat that had to be respected. I’ll catch hell, but the weak link of the team was Plunkett. I loved the guy and he was a hell of a competitor but occasionally had games where he was out of sync and clumsy.

I’ve seen them all. Was at the SB in Pasadena. I liked the 80’s team because they made it there as an underdog. The 83 team was the most dominant defensive team of all, but the 76 team was clearly the best. The 76 team was the most balanced.

Super Bowl XI

We FINALLY cleared the gauntlet, beating the Steelers twice. 13-1 season. Stabler, Branch, Casper, and Biletnikoff… Shell and Upshaw. Jack Tatum’s vicious hit on Sammy White. Old man Willie’s pick 6. Atkinson, Matuzak, Stork, Sistrunk and Villapiano.

This is the team I think of in The Silver and Black. The team I became a fan of as a kid. The Commitment to Excellence. JUST WIN BABY! My favorite team by a mile.
