HILLSDALE — The Hillsdale varsity girls golf team had their best individual finish of the season in league play at the Madison Jamboree.

Senior Kassidy Hassenzahl finished third in the final scoring with a 53. Hassenzahl’s third place finish leads the team’s individual results in league play so far this season. The senior was tied for third with Cassidy Frantz of Hudson. Senior Braylyn Borck won the league event with a final score of 49. Junior Kierra Fivenson of Clinton finished second with a score of 50.

The Hornets finished fifth in total score with 253. Senior Meghan Mekelburg had a final score of 62, earning par on a par-three, to take 17th. Senior Jillian Monahan took 22nd with a final score of 67. Senior Lydia Kunkel finished 24th with a final score of 71. Senior Baeleigh Francis took 31st with a score of 78.

The week before saw Kunkel and Mekelburg both earn top 10 finishes in individual league play. They both took seventh at the Hudson jamboree event. Hassenzahl took 10th in that event.

The next league jamboree is at Devils Lake Golf Course, hosted by Onsted. League jamborees take place at 3:30 p.m. After that, the Hornets are in Clinton at the Rustic Glen Golf Course for their final scheduled league jamboree. The Hornet golf season concludes on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The team will head to Heritage Glen Golf Course for this year’s MHSAA LP D4 regional championship tournament.
