Juan Cabal has suffered a ‘moderate-grade injury to the biceps femoris muscle in his right thigh’ and, according to reports in Italy, he’ll remain out of action for at least six weeks.
Juventus confirmed the extent of an injury to their defender Cabal on Thursday.
The Colombia international was subbed off after just 15 minutes in Wednesday’s Champions League game at Villarreal.
Cabal injury: official Juventus statement
“Juventus Men’s First Team player Juan Cabal, who came off during the first half of Wednesday night’s Champions League match against Villarreal, underwent diagnostic tests this morning at J|Medical,” the Bianconeri said in a statement.
“Those tests revealed a moderate-grade injury to the biceps femoris muscle in his right thigh. He will undergo further tests in two weeks to more precisely determine the recovery timeline.”
Cabal had recently returned to action after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury suffered a year ago.
Cabal injury: expected recovery time
According to Gazzetta, the recovery time for the new injury is around six weeks, which means Juventus hope to see the ex-Verona defender return to action for an away game at Fiorentina at the end of November.
Cabal, 24, joined Juventus from Verona in a €12.8m deal in the summer of 2024.
The Colombian defender scored his first goal with the Bianconeri last week, contributing to a 1-1 home draw against Atalanta.
His contract at the Allianz Stadium runs out in June 2029.
