Fresh off his win at the RBC Heritage tournament over the weekend, his first in three years, Justin Thomas announced his commitment to the Travelers Championship on Monday.
Thomas won in a playoff over Andrew Novak on Sunday, finishing 17-under par to take home his first win on tour since the PGA Championship in 2022. The win vaulted him to No. 6 in the Official World Golf Rankings and No. 2 in the FedEx Cup standings. The Travelers now has commitments from each of the world’s top six players for the event in June.
“Justin has been a popular and successful player on the PGA Tour for many years, so he is a wonderful addition to our tournament field,” tournament director Nathan Grube said in a release. “He has been a big supporter of our event ever since receiving an exemption and has had a number of strong finishes at TPC River Highlands.”
Thomas is a 16-time winner on the PGA Tour, including two majors– the 2017 and ’22 PGA Championships. He’s made nine starts at the Travelers, and has finished in the top 10 three times, including finishing tied for fifth last season and tied for third in 2016.
The Travelers will take place from June 19-22. It will once again be a Signature Event on the PGA Tour, meaning a higher purse ($20 million) and $3.6 million going to the winner.
