A little more than a week removed from falling to Matt Dolinsky in the championship matchup of the Berks County Golf Association’s 2024 Match Play championship, Josh Anderson bounced back in a big way.

On Tuesday, Anderson shot a 1-over 73 after shooting an even par 72 in the opening round on Monday to win the 2024 Berks Amaetur Championship with a 1-over 145 at LedgeRock Golf Club. Chris Storck, who shot a 1-under 71 on Tuesday, finished in second place with a two-day total of 3-over 147.

The win is Anderson’s second in a row at the Berks Amaetur Championship, and third overall, as he won at Reading Country Club in 2023 (also by two strokes) and at Golden Oaks in 2020.

On Monday, Anderson made four bogeys and one double bogey, but recovered each time he faltered in a show of resilience.

After making bogey on the first hole of the tournament, a 370-yard, par-4 No. 1, as well as bogey on the 340-yard, par-4 third, Anderson birdied the 378-yard, par-4 sixth, the 535-yard, par-5 eighth and the 364-yard, par-4 ninth.

He found more trouble on the back nine on Monday, making bogey on the 167-yard, par-3 tenth and double bogey on the 364-yard, par-4 11th. However, continuing to handle adversity, Anderson made two consecutive birdies on the 298-yard, par-4 12th and the 533-yard, par-5 13th.

To close out Monday’s round, Anderson bogeyed the 383-yard, par-4 17th before finishing strong with a birdie on the 595-yard, par-5 18th.

Anderson birdied No. 8 in the final round on Tuesday, but finished with bogeys on No. 17 and No. 18.

Jake Reed and Nicholas Fioravante each finished tied for third with a 4-over, 148, James Furness and Brock Kovach shared fifth place with a 5-over 149, Nicholas Vecellio and Brian Gardner came in tied for seventh with a 5-over, 149, Aaron Sepkowski placed ninth with a 10-over 154 and Michael Fioravante earned tenth place with an 11-over 155.

With their rounds on Tuesday, Storck, Reed (4-under 68) and Nicholas Fioravante (2-under 70) were the only golfers to post scores under par on either day of the tournament.

Up next on the BCGA’s tournament schedule is the Berks Junior Amateur Championship for ages 14-18 that will take place on July 10 at Blackwood beginning at noon.
