The theme of Josh Allen’s 2025 season, the Buffalo Bills quarterback is heading into the offseason battered and bruised. Once again, Allen’s team fell short in the NFL playoffs, checking out in the divisional round after losing to the Denver Broncos.

It was a loss that led to the firing of head coach Sean McDermott and the promotion of the offensive coordinator, Joe Brady. The team officially introduced Brady as the new head coach on Jan. 29 and it was hard to miss Allen, who was showing some of the battle scars he picked up along the way.

The quarterback was seen on crutches and in a walking boot on his right foot. General manager Brandon Beane revealed during the press conference that Allen, “went and had his foot fixed.”

Allen had a procedure for a fifth-metatarsal avulsion, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. The recovery time is about 8-to-10 weeks.

The quarterback spoke to the media after Brady was introduced as the new head coach.

“A little broken bone in there,” Allen said. “So they went in, took it out and cleaned it up. Obviously not ideal situation, painful throughout the weeks, but again, game day, different story just being able to put that to the side and just go out there and play football.”

He also confirmed that the injury occurred in the Bills’ Week 16 win over the Cleveland Browns, adding that it was an older injury that was reaggravated.

Despite the walking boot and crutches, Allen said that he will be ready for organized team activities (OTAs), but did say he would be playing if the Bills had a game this week.

Buffalo listed the quarterback with foot, knee and finger injuries ahead of the divisional round contest in Denver.
