The Cenation Leader crossed paths with The Brahma Bull at Elimination Chamber 2025 during his Farewell Tour. After Cena won the Elimination Chamber Match to earn an opportunity to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41, The American Nightmare made his way to the squared circle to congratulate the veteran.

The Rock, accompanied by Travis Scott, interrupted the celebration and demanded Cody Rhodes offer him his soul and be a corporate champion. Rhodes firmly rejected the offer much to the delight of the Toronto crowd.

Moments later, The Rock signaled at John Cena with a throat-slashing gesture, and the latter attacked Cody Rhodes, turning heel for the first time in over two decades in the process. Cena left the ring side by side with The Rock and Travis Scott, suggesting a new alliance between them. It led to many fans speculating that it was Cena who sold his soul to The Rock instead.

However, while speaking at the Edmonton Comics and Entertainment Expo over the weekend, John Cena revealed that he did not sell his soul to The Final Boss. The legendary star noted that he only wanted to win the title. Cena further noted that he had a good relationship with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and they did not need a soul deal to go with it.

“So everybody says I sold my soul and stuff. [Corrects himself] Few people say I sold my soul to The Rock just because Cody [Rhodes] and The Rock were talking about soul selling and I happened to get in there. Is that when Travis Scott sold his soul as well? I don’t know. Is that soul for sale? No, no. I just wanted to win a championship. The Rock doesn’t have my soul. He doesn’t. I don’t think he ever got Cody’s. I just want to make this clear. We did not have a soul deal, DJ and I. We got a good relationship. I don’t need to also give him my soul,” Cena said.

While John Cena has made a couple of appearances on WWE programming even after his retirement, many fans are still waiting for The Rock to make his return and complete his unfinished storyline with Cody Rhodes.

There is another section of fans who want The Final Boss to show up for a highly anticipated match against Roman Reigns on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Only time will tell if and when The Rock makes his return.
