The Jets added another kicker to their roster on Tuesday, as former UDFA Harrison Mevis agreed to a contract after working out with the team last week, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini.
While the 23-year-old has never seen NFL regular-season action — he signed with the Carolina Panthers in May 2024 and was waived in August — he appeared on the league’s radar this spring by posting impressive numbers in the UFL with the Birmingham Stallions.
Mevis was one of the UFL’s top kickers in 2025. He made 20 of 21 total field goal attempts, with his longest from 54 yards, and also averaged 64.9 yards on kickoff attempts. His lone miss was on a 63-yard attempt.
A four-year starter from Missouri who received All-American honors, Mevis joins a Jets special teams room that currently includes veteran Anders Carlson and rookie Caden Davis. Listed at 5-foot-11 and 243 pounds, Mevis has been given the nickname “Thiccer Kicker.”
