Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., had a full day at The Players Championship on Thursday.

The team’s No. 1 draft pick who led in the Jaguars in every important receiving category as a rookie in 2024, attended his first Players — indeed, his first golf tournament ever — and came away impressed with the skill the PGA Tour pros showed.

Especially hitting a small piece of land surrounded by water.

“Coming out here and watching them do the things they have to do … you’ve got to have some kind of athleticism and skill to hit the ball like that,” Thomas said as he watched groups hit balls into the Island Green at No. 17 of the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass.

Thomas said the golf nuts on the Jaguars, such as quarterback Trevor Lawrence and safety Andrew Wingard haven’t tried to get him on the golf course, yet.

“No, not really,” he said.

Maybe they’re waiting for Thomas to take a few lessons.

Brian Thomas began his day reading to kids

Thomas started his day at the Nemours Kids Zone near the eighth green, reading to kids. He then went to the Jaguars hospitality chalet overlooking the 17th hole and was spotted hanging out with mascot Jaxson De Ville.

But Thomas wanted a first-hand look and came out to the area near the foot path leading to the 17th green.

Thomas, who caught 87 passes for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns, all team rookie records, made the Pro Bowl and was one of the few bright spots on a 4-13 team.

When asked how his off-season was going, Thomas replied, “good … all good.”
