J.D. Martinez‘s new cleats have officially arrived.

The Mets’ slugger was scratched from Tuesday’s game due to a sore left ankle he suffered from a new cleat he was wearing after his original ones didn’t arrive on time because they were on backorder.

But we have word that Martinez’s cleats have made it to D.C. ahead of Wednesday’s contest and he’s officially back in the lineup in his usual third spot as the designated hitter.

With the veteran sidelined youngster Mark Vientos was bumped up in the order against the left-hander in Tuesday’s win, and he responded with a strong 2-for-5 showing with an RBI.

Getting Martinez back in the mix certainly will be huge for New York, though, as he’s been a spectacular addition to their lineup on and off the field during his first season with the team.

The 36-year-old has made his mark in the clubhouse and he’s mashed to the tune of a .278 average, a triple, 13 doubles, 10 homers, 37 RBI, and a .853 OPS in 56 games.
