League of Legends‘ Worlds tournament is a spectacle each year, combining top esports talent with grand production, and an unforgettable opening ceremony complete with an original anthem. And this year, fans suspect Linkin Park could be responsible for that anthem.

Year in and out, the opening ceremony for LoL Worlds is something to behold. With artists like Imagine Dragons, Zedd, Lil Nas X, The Glitch Mob, and NewJeans performing anthems for the esports tournament in the past, it’s always fun to see who’s next.

With Worlds 2024 fast approaching, the puzzle pieces are starting to fall into place, and it seems possible that this year’s anthem may be created and performed by one of the most successful, highest-selling bands in the 21st century.

Here’s everything we know so far about Linkin Park performing LoL’s Worlds 2024 anthem.

Linkin Park – LoL Worlds 2024 anthem?

The rampant speculation about Linkin Park being the artist for the Worlds 2024 anthem began gaining steam in early September 2024, after Riot Games revealed the calendar for this year’s Worlds. Combined with some social media posts from the @loleports Twitter/X account, the signs are pointing to the Linkin park rumor being true.

The rumor can be traced back to Sept. 5 when Linkin Park announced its comeback with new band members, a new album, single, and world tour, and the @lolesports account posted a crown emoji in reply to a live performance by the band on the same day. Speculation began by those who saw the post, but really picked up steam a few days later.

The tracklist for Linkin Park’s new album, From Zero, includes a song titled “Heavy is the Crown,” which is track four on the upcoming release. The title thematically fits with a LoL world champion being crowned, but there’s even more evidence beyond that.

In the Worlds 2024 calendar, Sept. 24 is marked for the date of the reveal of this year’s anthem. Not-so-coincidentally, Linkin Park is also playing The O2 Arena in London on that day—which is the same exact venue for Worlds 2024’s opening ceremony and finals.

It’s entirely possible that Linkin Park, along with Riot Games, will make the news official on Sept. 24 when the band is at The O2 for their own world tour show, confirming they will be back a little over a month later for the opening ceremony on Nov. 2.
