Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu could be forced into a midfield reshuffle for the Serie A clash against Cremonese, with talismanic midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu possibly rested.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Calhanoglu remains a serious doubt to start after taking a knock to his right leg during the Champions League win over Slavia Prague.
The Turkish midfielder’s condition has improved and he has resumed full running.
However, Chivu is reluctant to take any unnecessary risks ahead of a packed schedule.
The Inter Milan boss will make a final decision only a few hours before kick-off.
Calhanoglu has been a key player for Chivu so far this season, after a summer of speculation away from the club.

If Calhanoglu is left out, Nicolò Barella would shift into the regista role.
Meanwhile Davide Frattesi and Petar Sucic are battling for the final midfield spot.
Both players are eager to impress after limited chances so far this season.
This is especially true for Frattesi, who is still looking for his first Serie A start under Chivu.
Inter have already shown strength in rotation this term.
Therefore, Chivu’s decision could highlight the growing depth of his squad in the heart of midfield.
