Inter Milan are in advanced talks to sign Genoa defender Brooke Norton-Cuffy on a permanent deal as they step up their winter transfer plans.

The 22-year-old has emerged as a priority target for the Nerazzurri as they look to strengthen the right side of their squad ahead of the second half of the season.

Negotiations accelerated after PSV Eindhoven made it clear that Ivan Perisic would not be sold this month.

Inter have since pivoted decisively towards Norton-Cuffy, with discussions progressing rapidly.

The England Under-21 international has impressed since joining Genoa from Arsenal last season.

He arrived in Italy in a deal worth around €2 million and has quickly established himself as a regular starter.

Norton-Cuffy has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season.

He has contributed one goal and one assist, while offering consistent athleticism and attacking drive from right-back.

His performances have attracted growing interest across Serie A.

Juventus have also held talks with Genoa in recent days as they explore options at right wing-back.

The Turin club have enquired about a possible deal but are currently limited to a loan structure with an obligation to buy tied to Champions League qualification.

That approach has complicated Juventus’ pursuit.

Genoa are understood to be holding out for a fee close to €25 million.

The valuation is influenced by a 20 per cent sell-on clause owed to Arsenal from the original transfer.

Inter are believed to be better positioned to meet Genoa’s demands.

The club are seeking a permanent solution rather than a conditional deal, which has strengthened their standing in negotiations.

Norton-Cuffy’s profile fits Inter’s recruitment strategy.

He offers pace, physicality and the ability to operate high up the flank, either as a traditional full-back or wing-back.

Inter view him as a player capable of contributing immediately while still retaining significant development potential.

The defender’s experience at international youth level has also added to his appeal.

He was part of England’s Under-21 side that lifted the European Championship last summer.

At Genoa, he has been trusted in high-pressure matches and has adapted quickly to the tactical demands of Serie A.

Inter’s interest comes as they look to add depth without disrupting squad balance.

The failure to land Perisic forced a reassessment, but Norton-Cuffy is now seen as a genuine opportunity rather than a fallback option.

Talks are ongoing, with optimism on all sides that an agreement can be reached before the window closes.

Norton-Cuffy, meanwhile, could be set for a swift rise to one of Italy’s biggest stages.
