Inter have overtaken Manchester City to become the best club team in the world right now, according to the Opta Analyst statistics, ending Pep Guardiola’s 600-day reign.
The Opta Power Rankings assign scores to over 13,000 men’s football teams around the world on a scale between zero and 100.
It is updated on a daily basis from Monday to Friday and the latest results saw Inter surge two places into top spot.
This is particularly remarkable considering that Manchester City had been in first place for over 600 days.
Inter pounce on Manchester City problems
However, City suffered a shock fourth consecutive defeat between the Premier League and Champions League, and are therefore saw their score damaged, dropping two places to third.
Inter, on the other hand, won 11 games in all competition this season, drew five and lost only one.
The Nerazzurri’s status might not last long, as a victory today would let Liverpool leapfrog them into first place in the Opta Power Rankings.
