Buffalo Sabres forward Jordan Greenway is a player to watch incredibly closely over the next two days. With the Sabres being at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, there is undoubtedly a chance the 6-foot-6 winger could get moved if he does not sign an extension by March 7.
However, the Sabres have not given up on trying to lock up Greenway. According to NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, the Sabres and Greenway have continued to have extension talks with Greenway’s camp over the last 24 hours.
“More talks between the Sabres and Jordan Greenway’s camp over the past 24 hours,” LeBrun reported on X. “Sabres looking to possibly extend the pending UFA forward. Both sides open to it. Let’s see if it gets done.”

With this update from LeBrun, it is apparent that the Sabres have not shut the door on getting Greenway signed to a contract extension. The same can be said about Greenway potentially staying put. Thus, this will undoubtedly be something to keep an eye on over the next two days.
The Sabres being open to extending Greenway is understandable. The Canton, New York native gives plenty of size and grit to the Sabres’ bottom six, so it would be nice if they could come to terms on a new deal rather than trading him. However, if they don’t finalize a new contract, the Sabres may have no choice but to trade the pending unrestricted free agent. Contenders value big forwards, so they could get a solid return for him in a potential swap.
In 26 games this season with the Sabres, Greenway has three goals, eight points, 74 hits, and a minus-1 rating.
